I can see 101 benefits of having Face-time on the iPad already. Especially for meetings\presentations\training\selling things, etc, etc.

But, at the same time, if one is released this quickly, I think I’ll be pissed. This is very different to buying an iPhone every year, i.e. cost wise. Then again, I’m sure I could sell my iPad on ebay, etc..

I’d love full faith and credit for my gently-used iPad 3G However, I know that won’t happen (dreaming your dream, Jules). It’s a bit like apples and oranges, but every time I’ve sold an iPhone on eBay to help finance the purchase of a new iPhone, I’ve always recouped my money. It will be interesting to see if I have similar success with the iPad. It could happen if someone in a non-iPad market (international) decides to pony up the dough for my domesticated iPad. Yes, you can dream, and so can I!

Upgrade? You mean outright full price purchase of new product, right? It is only dreaming but it would be nice if Apple would allow a trade-in of products that are significantly “upgraded” less than a year after a person purchases it. Instead, if you have a first generation iPad and a new generation product gets launched less than a year later with many more features, you have to sell your original one yourself and buy new at full price. I’m not complaining – Apple doesn’t owe us this. But with software, you can often “upgrade” by paying less. With cars, you “upgrade” by trading in and buy new. I can dream, right?

I prefer the band from etsy, Zeida. Nice wide band! I’d be tempted by a wide band with Velcro fastening, like a sports watch. Good find!

Good idea, iPadUseful — it seems like iPads would be perfect for the vending environment. They are already pre-configured and the buyer merely needs to select the memory configuation and Wi-Fi only or 3G

Good points, Patrick. I think even Microsoft will admit that Apple has done a far better job implementing tablet computing — something MS (and other PC players) have tried and failed to have the marketplace embrace over the last 10+ years, and now Apple has cornered the market and there’s no signs of slowing. Perhaps in some ways, at least in marketing and user interface/user experience, the servant has become the master. MS could learn a thing or two from their prodigy.

“If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em…” What’s new? Creating Apple compatible apps is something Microsoft has been doing for years. Why should now be any different? iPad is an Apple product. It’s a smart marketing move. Why minimize your potential profits by not riding the money wave that apple obsessed individuals shell out. “Bow to your Sensei” — How about “Show me the Money.” Not to mention Bill Gates purchased $150 million dollars worth of Apple stock in 1997 to help get Apple back on there feet. Even Steve Jobs of Apple admitted it, but he called it “getting Apple Healthy.” Apple should be thanking Microsoft and Bill Gates in helping build them back up. Like a Sensei to a pupil, Microsoft did a good job in showing Apple how to fight. Check out this PBS article in ’97.
