With Christmas just a few days away, perhaps you are looking for a last-minute gift for the Apple-lover(s) in your life. The pocket-sized book, “I, Steve” — Steve Jobs In His Own Words — edited by George Beahm, is a great stocking-stuffer and a must-have for any Apple enthusiast and fan of the late, great Steve Jobs. Chock full of quotes from Steve, it is interesting to get a look into one of great minds of our time. Here’s a sneak peak at a few memorable quotes found in the book:
“Being the richest man in the cemetary doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful — that’s what matters to me.”
And another:
“We don’t stand a chance of advertising with features and benefits and with RAMs and with charts and comparisons.  The only chance we have of communicating is with a feeling.”
Just one more quote:
“We’re gambling on our vision, and we would rather do that than make “me, too” products.  Let some other companies do that.  For us, it’s always the next dream.”
You can pick up “I, Steve” from Amazon here or from a bookstore near you.

A few weeks ago we [The Mrs and I] bought an AT&T iPad 2, a white one at that, with WIFI and 3G. As light weight as the device is, I didn’t want to add too much more weight to it. So during our purchase process, we decided to buy a Smart Cover, too. A grey one; to me it would suit the white iPad 2 better.

I did a bit of research with various websites, and the likes, and decided to get a skin for the back. But, of course the question now was, which company, and which skin to get.

Well, GelaSkins seems to be one of the leaders in the ‘skinning’ business, and we decided to get a customer wallpaper skin. The cost of a skin is $29.95, plus $7.95 for 5-7 day UPS shipping. Bear in mind this cost is for the skin for the front of the iPad 2, and the back.

Two of my favorite things are my iPad and an old, stylish book. What happens when you put the two together? Thanks to a creative company called ReAuthored, I now know the answer and so will you. ReAuthored rescues old books that are headed for the recycle bin (or, even worse, the city dump) and repurposes them for stylish protection of the iPad, Kindle and Nook. Since this is an iPad site, of course, they were kind enough to send us a sample case, made specifically for our review. How well does an old book magically transformed into a stylish case perform as a way to carry and protect the iPad? Read on for a review and pictures!

The iCADE for iPad, from ThinkGeek, is the real deal and has been reviewed. It does require Atari’s Greatest Hits app from the App Store, found here, and is compatible with both the iPad and iPad 2. Here’s a little more about the Greatest Hits app:

TouchArcade has reviewed iCADE and provided video of actual use on YouTube. According to the reviewer, it’s a must-have “accessory” for the iPad for the serious retro-gamer. If you’re old enough to remember games like the original Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, and more, or if you want to try your joystick-and-button reflexes against some of the classics, then iCADE just might be for you.

With Apple and their products growing so quickly, more and more suppliers and retailers are providing accessories for said products.

A friend of mine was out shopping at Target today. She called me and said, “Do you still need an iPad 2 case?”. My immediate response: “Err, yes please”. You know you’d have responded the exact same way, admit it. Upon receipt of said case, to my surprise it was a PixelSkin HD Wrap case, by Speck Products. The scary thing about this whole thing is this. Yesterday the Mrs and I were perusing websites for a white case for an iPhone 4, in anticipation of the release of the white iPhone 4 on 27th April. Seriously, blame the Mrs…

I’ve finally gotten around to opening, activating and syncing my iPad 2.

After using it for a while, and testing various things, I have to say, I’m impressed. I even tried the FaceTime option, chatting to The Mrs. on her iPhone. It was simply brilliant.

But, like any device these days, a case or cover of some sort is a must. I did order, and have received a Smart Cover — black. After reading a few articles, it seems the last thing I want to do is put it on my scratch-free iPad 2. With that said, it is sitting in an unopened package as we speak.

I went ahead and looked for something else, so, I bought something ‘simple’, for some protection, albeit more than the Smart Cover could/would offer. It is made by Griffin, and is called the ‘Elan Folio Slim’. This can be bought from Best Buy, for $39.99, or it’s available from Griffin at their site right here.  Keep reading for more photos and a quick review!

There are now lots (and I mean LOTS) of ways to protect, carry and display your shiny Apple iPad, and recently I’ve had the pleasure of using a leather case that raises the bar in quality, functionality and value. The Geminus Genius Case for iPad, priced reasonably at $55 for leather and $35 for faux leather, is a stylish, useful and professional way to carry your iPad. It combines some of the classic usefulness of a leather planner while accommodating the cutting-edge iPad. Keep reading for a full review and several pictures of this exceptional case!

I have a confession. Recently, while lying in bed with an epic high-sprain to my left ankle, I was channel-surfing in the late afternoon and had to stop on Oprah when I saw M.C. Hammer toting an iPad with what I quickly realized as a must-have accessory. Surely the man who brought us “Hammer-pants” and the immortal proclamation of “can’t touch this” would not lead his fellow iPad geeks astray, so I took intense interest. What is the product really like and what do I think about it? Read on!

The Dexim Colorful Silicone Sleeve for iPad, available from Dexim here for $19.90, is a soft silicone sleeve that covers your iPad all the way around and even includes an anti-scratch screen protector, squeegee-card, and cleaning cloth in the package. The sleeve is designed to prevent scratches, dust and other damage to your iPad and gives your iPad a more “grippy” feel that may help prevent the slick iPad from slipping through your grasp. Available in a variety of colors (as seen above), I had a chance to try a blue one on my iPad and follow after the break for my review and pictures!

DisplayPort.com offers great earth-conscious digital accessories, specifically for the iPad. According to the information on their site:

Crafted from carefully selected short cuttings, the DisplayPort is manufactured entirely from wood that is unsuitable for conventional wood processing. We purchase wood from sources that would otherwise discard this vital and beautiful natural resource. The DisplayPort is a stylish and functional display for the iPad and, optionally, a wireless keyboard.

The name “DisplayPort” comes from the combined utility of the product. An effective display stand that incorporates a sound port, the DisplayPort enables you to see and share your iPad display while improving and amplifying the sound it produces.

Read on for pictures and my thoughts on using this product after the break!
