The rumor of a 7-inch iPad from Apple seems to be alive and well, according to the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News out of Taiwan. The paper reports that Apple plans to release an iPad with a 7-inch screen and weighing in at 500 grams, 200 grams less than the original 9.7-inch iPad.
A smaller iPad is certainly lighter but still not exactly pocketable. With over 3.27 millions iPads selling in the first three months of availability, it would be interesting to see what kind of market will embrace and iPad that’s a wee bit smaller and lighter. It seems fair to assume that a smaller iPad will also mean a lower price tag than the original, so will smaller and cheaper be more appealing to a broader consumer base and possibly grab some fence-sitters?

And what do you think they might call this smaller iPad? My favorites are:
iPad 2;
iPad Mini; and
iPad Nano.
